Market Pulse
Looking for NBA pickups? Today’s edition might be the one for you then!
We are starting to see some great NBA buying opportunities opening up. Unless you’re feeling risky, I’d still shy away from stars on playoff teams. However, I think some of these young stars will be very good buys once their teams are eliminated.
We are going to get into some specific buys later on, but I’m generally focused on young players looking to take the next steps!
Keep in mind the timing is super important here. The “WHY” behind my thought process is to focus on buy targets that are not in the spotlight or being hyped up in the moment.
What’s coming up that we should be aware of?
NBA Playoffs
Not going to spend time here. Super quick flip opportunities, but you run the risk of paying a lot for a card only for the cards to not increase or the team to be eliminated. Huge speculation play at this point.
NBA Draft (Late June)
The NBA draft isn’t as big of a play as NFL, but still could produce some solid plays. I would focus on a few big names and pick up some of their key college cards prior to the playoffs ending. Be careful, if you wait too long then the Draft will become priced into their cards!
NBA Free Agency
Find the biggest free agent stars and target their rookies! Once they sign (hopefully with a big market team) they may see a sizable jump. Sell them off quickly because the hype will vanish FAST.
MLB All Star Week (July 12-14)
Like we discussed last week, this is my favorite play within the MLB. Another big speculation play, but if you get it right that player will have big upside with the hype around them for that week.
NFL Training Camp
We are furthest from this one, however depending on your buys, this could be your best ROI potential. There’s still time to get into some key players ahead of this season, we will go into a few of those below, but be ready to put some money into NFL players to hopefully see a nice return ahead of the season starting.
My Current Buy Targets
Kon Knueppel
One of my favorite buys right now is Knueppel. In the past 90 days his cards are down 21.5% and 30.5% in the past month.
With the Hornets not making the playoffs, it sets up a very nice opportunity to buy before hype starts creeping back into play this summer. Kon was one of the hottest cards to buy throughout this NBA season.
Looking below at his Topps Chrome Refractor graph, you can see his cards since the end of his season of dropped significantly. Right now they are just above where it was selling prior to taking the hobby by storm between February and April. The hype should return heading into next season.

Cooper Flagg
Flagg, like Knueppel, is in a similar position. His prices took a nose dive by 20.2% in the last 90 days and 17.1% in the last 30! However, the main reason he wasn’t the first player we talked about is because his average sale is sitting at $185, compared to Kon’s $97.5.
Both are similar plays, and with Flagg being such a highly sought after player before even entering the league, he’s worth the price and should still see similar gains. I plan to get it now and hold until the start of the season.
Below is his Topps Chrome Refractor over the last 90 days.

Tyler Shough
I know he was part of last week edition and I’d love to switch it up completely, but this is one of my favorite pick-ups right now. In 11 games he threw for nearly 2400 yards with 10 touchdowns to 6 interceptions, while adding a 67.6% completion percentage.
I’m a fan of Kellen Moore, and I think adding guys like Jordan Tyson and Travis Etienne Jr is going to give that offense even more of a spark than what Olave already brings.
Below is the 30-day average for the top 3 QB’s from last years draft on their raw Prizm Silvers.
Jaxson Dart: $172
Cam Ward: $62
Tyler Shough: $36
I think all 3 of these guys have room to grow with beginning of the season hype. However, with where their prices stand currently, I like the odds of Tyler Shough having the most room to grow price wise.
Bo Nix
Bo had a great season last year and led his team in a deep playoff run before his injury sidelined him ahead of the AFC championship. In his 17 games, he threw for nearly 4000 yards with 25 touchdowns to 11 interceptions and had a 63% completion percentage.
Like Shough’s narrative, Bo is selling lower than nearly all of his years draft class. Below is a graph showing the last 30-days of the key QB’s in that draft class based on their Silver PSA 10’s.

You’ll see Bo is only above Penix and Mccarthy who are currently fighting for their jobs. Williams and Maye sit at the top nearly double of what Bo’s prices are, and I’d argue that Williams stats and season are fairly similar to Bo’s.
Daniels is coming off an injury riddled season where he only played 7 games, but still has $300 difference between their cards. Bo’s market is low, now’s the time to get in before the market corrects.
Shedeur Sanders
Huge risk, with huge potential. Like mentioned in last week’s edition, there seems to be a ton of rumors out of Cleveland that Deshaun Watson has a serious opportunity to win the starting job.
Well, these rumors have led to Sheduer’s prices dipping 31% in the past 90-days. His Raw Silver Prizm is averaging $18 over the last week. Shedeur’s name alone brings a ton of eyes to his situation, but if he can win the starting nod then his cards could explode before the season.

Sell Considerations
Mike Trout
Whenever Trout’s on the field he’s a must see player. He’s had a brilliant career but many believe the injury’s have truly hurt his stock. His cards are up 6.3% over the last 30-days and 15% over the last year.
At risk of an injury, I would sell what you have if you’re strictly looking to flip and turn a profit. He could catch a hot streak or make the all-star game, but the increase to me isn’t worth the risk.
Spencer Jones
This might even be a tad late but SELL NOW!
He was just called up and had a solid first game. MLB players highest points are their call ups, unless they become a true stud in the big leagues.
Don’t risk it, sell now and if you want to reinvest, wait until the offseason and jump back in. Spencer’s 2023 1st Bowman Mega Box PSA 10 has gone up 70% in the last week, don’t miss your chance.
My Featured Additions
My favorite addition from last week is actually one I had mentioned in last edition and above.
I bought a Tyler Shough Prizm Silver for $30.48. I’m still waiting for it in the mail, but it looked to be decently centered so I will check to see if I’d prefer to grade or flip it closer to the season!

Rapid Insights
College QB’s
The College market is nowhere near what the pro sports are at currently, but as a College Football fan, I do like to dabble in that department. I got beat bad on some QB prospects I bought ahead of this years NFL draft, but I think I got in way too late to some of my buys.
Looking ahead, I might take a few shots at College quarterbacks that have recently transferred and could have big years in their new home. Those names would include Sam Leavitt, Josh Hoover, & Dj Lagway.
Sell Defensive Prospects Now
Ahead of the draft, I’m sure some made good money off of those top defenders cards like David Bailey, Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles. Unfortunately, collegiate cards drop off once player rookie cards are made and the drop off is even worse for defensive stars.
Travis Hunters 1st Bowman Raw Auto went down 45% between draft week and September 1st, 2025. (Start of the season)
Jalon Walker, a mid first round edge rusher in 2025, had his 1st Bowman Auto decrease by 44% between draft week and September 1st, 2025. (Start of the season)
Giannis Antetokounmpo
A few weeks ago, I checked out a few of Giannis’s cards to see if there was any potential buys. After hearing the Bucks are open to trading him, I think if you act fast you could pick up something for current pricing and get a nice return either if he’s traded or before next season.
I like his name because the current NBA fans are all hovering around the young stars like Edwards and Cunningham. Giannis hasn’t been as sought after since his championship run. He may be a nice player to take a shot on before any news breaks.
